Queen and Country to Benefit Compost Queens (SOLD OUT)

WHO: San Antonio’s Chef Cooperatives, a nonprofit comprised of well-known San Antonio chefs, has been instrumental in raising funds through their pop-up events to actively support the health and prosperity of South Central Texas farmers, ranchers and vintners, as well as the local communities. The Chefs have also been first responders, feeding these same communities during times of disaster.

WHAT: Chef Cooperatives is happy to announce their next event to benefit Compost Queens, San Antonio's only curbside community composting service.

This will be the first official event the Chef Cooperatives have held since the pandemic began. As a result of COVID-19, the For Queen & Country event will take place remotely, but still include amazingly delicious chef-prepared dishes using only the best locally-sourced ingredients. The meal also includes two complimentary drinks per guest of local wine and beer.

Ticket-holders will pick up their picnic basket-style meal (stored in biodegradable disposables that can easily be heated and served) the day before the event.

Although the event is remote, Chef Cooperatives ensures the event will still be a lot of fun and a great way to support a local business that is "saving the earth, one bucket at a time."

On the day of the event, guests can log into a zoom call to enjoy their meal along with other guests and chat with Compost Queens co-owner, Kate Gruy Jaceldo, meet and greet the Chef Cooperatives' chefs and take a virtual farm tour of Talking Tree Farms, one of the farms that Compost Queens works closely with.

"Like everyone else in the culinary industry, we've had to drastically adjust to keep moving forward, but we are hopeful this will still be a great event. It's an opportunity to have a little virtual fun, eat some fantastic food and support local businesses, farms and ranches, which is what we're all about," said Stephen Paprocki, President of Chef Cooperatives.

Kate Gruy Jaceldo added: "We know this is a difficult time for everyone to navigate, and we are thankful to the Chef Cooperatives for being able to pivot to make this event work safely. We're excited to share how Compost Queens has been navigating during this time and our plans for future growth."
